Truefitt & Hill Defies Recession and Opens a Flagship Store in Beijing, China
Truefitt & Hill’s first Asian flagship store has opened in the heart of Beijing’s Central Business District, in one of the most prominent landmark buildings - The Yintai Centre, a two hundred and fifty meter high skyscraper complex, housing not only the first Park Hyatt in Greater China, but also a considerable number of flagship stores of other luxury brands such as Hermes, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Max Mara, Burberry, Dunhill and Ermenegildo Zegna to name but a few. The Beijing store adds to Truefitt’s already expanding international locations in London, Chicago and Toronto.
Truefitt & Hill, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the Oldest Barbershop in the World, has had the privilege of being in service to the British Royal Family since the company’s inception in 1805. Today, this proud tradition is continued by a grant of a Royal Warrant from His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
"We are pleased to be expanding into new markets, especially at the present time. Although we are very fortunate in having a loyal customer base, which has continued to grow during the recent downturn, we must take cognizance of the fact that almost every established business has been affected by the adverse economic climate. At times like this, new markets offer new opportunities and will provide for expended growth in the future despite the uncertain conditions within the global market arena” says Alan Broughton, Managing Director of Truefitt & Hill. He adds: “Whoever gains the palm by merit, let him hold it” a quote once uttered by Horatio Nelson at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
Truefitt & Hill’s first Asian flagship store will continue in Truefitt’s tradition of excellence and offer a wide variety of male grooming services as well as a comprehensive range of luxurious grooming products and accessories. The product offering will consist of Truefitt’s famous shaving creams, pre-shave oils and aftershave balm ranges as well as signature aftershaves and colognes. Various hair preparations as well as facial cleansers, scrubs and moisturizers will add to the offering. The store also stocks the finest shaving sets which are world-renowned for their quality, ease of use and exclusivity of style, while the services will include signature traditional hot towel wet shaves performed with cut throat razors by master barbers trained in London, as well as haircuts, facial treatments, massages, and manicures.
Stepping into the spacious Beijing store is reminiscent of entering some of the legendary Gentleman’s Clubs of London’s St James’s. The store boasts the finest black walnut woods, polished brass and English antiques, which elegantly combine to reflect the traditional English finesse of style and design.
The opening of Truefitt’s first Asian store marks 205 years of the company’s proud history - it is a brand with unique heritage and an unprecedented two centuries of experience within the male grooming market. The company is dedicated to constant product innovation, offering well positioned grooming ranges which not only inspire customer confidence, but remain relevant to the changing needs of the modern male; as such the products are sought after by discerning gentlemen throughout the world.
Truefitt has even found its way into the novels of Charles Dickens and Thackeray and when a company’s byline claims that Truefitt & Hill is ‘GROOMING MEN FOR GREATNESS’ they really mean it – while the present clientele list remains undisclosed, the past clientele included Gladstone, Lord Byron, the Duke of Wellington, Alfred Hitchcock, Laurence Olivier, Sir Winston Churchill, Montgomery, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, John Wayne, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra to name just a few… |
